Sandy Creek is located within Upstate New York’s Northway Corridor along the Interstate-81expressway about half way between the City of Syracuse and the Thousand Island Region. Syracuse is situated in the heart of New York State at the crossroads of I-81, a major north/south transportation corridor linking the mid-Atlantic states to Canada and I-90. The Thousand Island Region is one of the prime recreation areas in the northeastern United States.

 

Sandy Creek is a typical small Upstate New York village with a population of 789 and 3,863 within the township. Being relatively small, Sandy Creek benefits from the entire Oswego County economic base and its location within the Syracuse metropolitan area. The area residents enjoy abundant Salmon fishing and hunting. Additionally, the community is within ~5 miles of Lake Ontario and Sandy Creek Beach State Park. There is an I-81 interchange at Sandy Creek which provides excellent access to areas north and south. US Route 11 passes through the village as does many other county highways. Local retail and support services are found in the Village/Town, with more regional support facilities located in Syracuse or Watertown.

 

One of the many popular recreational activities is ATVing or off-roading". The Oswego County ATV Club (www.oswegocountyatv.org)  has over 100 miles of trails through scenic land and woods with stops at local restaurants and convenience stores. The club is dedicated to providing a safe and legal place to ride for ATV enthusiasts of all ages.
